Say hello to...gluten-free lipstick.

Last week I mentioned that I was searching for a gluten free mainstream lipstick. I purchased my lipstick at the duty free shop and will receive it when I fly out for my vacation next week. I wanted to post a few department brands that I came across that are gluten-free. Feel free to share any of your favorites or suggestions. I know there must be more than this list :)

Say goodbye to...Clinique.

My title may seem a bit harsh, but after 10 years of diligently using Clinique products I have finally decided to say goodbye. Once I was aware of my intolerance to gluten, I immediately went through my cupboards, clearing any traces of gluten. I soon realized that makeup could also have gluten. I contacted Clinique regarding each beauty product that I currently owned and was sad that most of my items contained gluten :( I always knew that lipstick could have gluten, but had no idea that mascara, eye shadow, eye cream, and face lotion could also have it. Rather than spending my time continuously contacted companies, I'd rather use products that are clearly gf!

Say goodbye to...MAC cosmetics.

I usually talk about things that ARE gluten-free, but it can be equally useful in knowing what ISN'T gluten-free. Before I realized that eyeshadows and mascara could contain gluten, I used MAC. After contacting the company and receiving a response MUCH later, I learned that the following products contained gluten: splashproof mascara, star violet eye shadow (barley and wheat germ extract), and all that glitters eye shadow (barley and wheat germ extract). From that point on I decided ONLY to use makeup from companies that had a gf line of makeup. If you're looking for that kind of company check out Afterglow Cosmetics or Everyday Minerals.

Say hello to...Origins liquid lip color.

Although I prefer to stick to cosmetic companies that label their makeup as gluten-free and provide a whole line of gluten-free makeup, I have to say that I just might continue to purchase Origins Liquid Lip Color. My friend recently bought me one as a gift, thinking that it definitely wouldn't have gluten in it. I contacted the company, and sure enough it doesn't contain any gluten. I have since used it and love the way it looks and smells. It has some kind of mentholeum ingredient in it that feels great on the lips. Rather than using gluten in the ingredients they use oryza sativa (rice) germ oil and glycine soja (soybean) oil.

Say hello to...Natural Solutions.

Natural Solutions is a great company that provides natural and organic alternatives for skin and beauty products. The naturally made products are certified organic, pesticide and herbicide free, paraben-free, no-animal testing, and samples are available at a decent price. Not all products are gluten-free, but there is a wide selection of products that are. The products that are gluten-free are listed under each product along with a complete ingredients list. Not only are these products good for your skin and the environment, but they also feel great on the skin. Check out their products.

Say hello to...Everyday Minerals makeup.

I couldn't believe it when I found out that the majority of my eye shadows, mascara, blush, and lipsticks contained gluten in them. I realized this after contacting the companies of the makeup I currently owned. I decided to search for a company that had a gf cosmetic line so that I wouldn't have to contact every company about their products. I discovered that Bare Minerals, Afterglow Cosmetics, and Everyday Minerals all had a gf makeup line. After looking at all 3, I decided that I liked the ingredients list in Everyday Minerals more, it was more affordable, and they had a great starters kit and free sample kit. Not only does it look natural, but it feels great and stays on all day.

Say hello to...Honeybee Gardens lipstick.

If you're looking for a gluten-free lipstick, there aren't always a lot of choices out there. I recently discovered Honeybee Gardens Cosmetics. I've been using their mascara, eyeliner, and lipstick- gluten-free, paraben-free, and all natural. Although I'm not a huge fan of their lipgloss, the lipstick feels great on the skin, and doesn't dry out your lips. I especially like the dream lipstick that has a bit of shimmer.
